Shannon is a licensed Pediatric Occupational Therapist. Her education includes a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in occupational therapy, both from St. Ambrose University.
Shannon holds post-professional certifications in SOS Approach to feeding and DIR-Floortime. Ayres' sensory integration has also been a strong influence on Shannon's education and approach to OT.
She has also taken a variety of continuing education trainings, including trauma informed sensory processing treatment, Astronaut Training, Therapeutic Listening, and more. Shannon loves using play and collaborating with others to expand upon therapy ideas and meet each person as they come.
She has worked in clinics, schools, telehealth, home, daycares, and private school settings. In therapy, she uses a child-lead, strength's based approach that is neurodiversity affirming. She values promoting confidence, competence, and meaningful participation in daily tasks and activities.
In her spare time, she enjoys time with her family, running, reading, listening to podcasts or audiobooks, and watching movies.
