A huge piece of making progress towards our clients’ goals is home carryover. What this means is that it is important to work on the skills being targeted during your child’s session throughout the week at home in order to see positive changes and progress. One way our therapists help families do this is through home programming. Home programming looks a little different for every family. Each therapist works to personalize what gets sent home so that the programming can be as effective as possible. Some examples of home programming include informational/instructional handouts on techniques used during treatment sessions, home exercise programs, “sensory diets”, behavioral strategies, and adaptations for self-care. All of our home programming is meant to bridge the time between your child’s therapy sessions and help you work towards your child’s goals at home as easily as possible. With guidance from your therapist, you will be able to implement therapeutic techniques and support the carryover of new skills and functions!
